Meshtastic is an open-source project that enables you to use inexpensive, low-power radio devices (LoRa) to create a decentralized, off-grid mesh network.
Unlike traditional communication networks that rely on central towers (like cell phones) or internet infrastructure, Meshtastic devices talk directly to one another. If one device can't reach the destination directly, it hops through other nearby devices to get the message delivered.
It is primarily used for sending encrypted text messages and GPS locations in areas without reliable cellular service, making it ideal for outdoor adventures and emergency community communications.
